Every now and then, a romance completely catches you off guard — and Come Away With Me was that movie for me.

I went into Passionflix’s latest book adaptation expecting a sweet, slightly steamy romance and probably a fair bit of cheese. What I didn’t expect was to be completely won over by a leading man I wasn’t even sure I liked at first, ridiculously invested in Luke and Natalie’s relationship, and finishing the movie already knowing I’d happily watch the whole thing again.

So what exactly did Come Away With Me get so right — and why did those final 20 minutes leave me wishing Passionflix had just slowed things down?

Passionflix has brought another bestselling romance novel to the screen with Come Away With Me, the adaptation of Kristen Proby’s beloved first With Me in Seattle book – and Luke and Natalie’s love story surprised me in the best possible way. 📚 Read the Book Behind the Film

The Come Away With Me movie premiered on Passionflix on August 6, 2026, starring Natalie Pelletier as Natalie Conner and Jake B. Miller as Luke Williams. It’s a celebrity romance packed with instant chemistry, secret identities, romantic gestures, gorgeous scenery and a hero who falls very hard, very quickly.

If you’ve already watched my Come Away With Me edit on YouTube, you’ll know that I went into this one not entirely sure what to expect.

I certainly didn’t expect to love Luke.

I was very wrong.

I deliberately left a heck of a lot of the movie out of my video because there is so much more to Luke and Natalie’s relationship than the few moments I showed. So, if you’re deciding whether Come Away With Me is worth watching on Passionflix – or you’re a Kristen Proby reader wondering what to expect from the adaptation – here’s my full spoiler-light review.

What Is Come Away With Me on Passionflix About?

Come Away With Me follows Natalie Conner, a photographer whose peaceful morning taking pictures on a Seattle beach takes an unexpected turn when she’s confronted by a stranger who thinks she’s photographing him.

That stranger is Luke Williams.

And Luke has a very good reason for being suspicious of cameras.

A star since childhood, Luke has stepped away from the limelight in search of some privacy. When he realises Natalie genuinely doesn’t know who he is, he’s intrigued – and their rather confrontational first meeting quickly turns into something much more interesting.

There’s just one problem.

Luke doesn’t tell Natalie who he really is.

And Natalie doesn’t exactly have a great relationship with lies and secrets. That’s the central tension behind Kristen Proby’s original story, and it gives this otherwise extremely romantic relationship the secret-identity complication we know is eventually going to explode.

Come Away With Me Tropes

If you choose romances according to their tropes – hello, you’re among friends here – expect:

  • Celebrity / movie star romance
  • Hidden identity / secret
  • He falls first
  • Instant attraction
  • Protective hero
  • Photographer heroine
  • Mature romance
  • Family and friendship
  • Plenty of steam
  • Happily ever after

And if “famous man falls ridiculously hard for the woman who doesn’t even know he’s famous” sounds like your particular brand of romance?

You should probably already be opening Passionflix.

🍿

Come Away With Me Is Based on Kristen Proby’s First With Me in Seattle Book

Here’s something worth knowing before watching: Luke and Natalie aren’t just another couple from a long romance series. They’re the couple who started it.

Come Away With Me was originally published in 2012 and is the first novel in bestselling romance author Kristen Proby’s With Me in Seattle series.

And the series became considerably bigger than one romance.

Rather than following Luke and Natalie through book after book, With Me in Seattle expands into an interconnected romance world, with later novels focusing on other couples while previous characters continue to appear.

For example, Fight With Me follows Jules Montgomery, while Play With Me follows Will Montgomery. There are now numerous novels and novellas connected to the wider series.

That makes Come Away With Me a particularly interesting choice for Passionflix.

If this adaptation is successful, there’s an entire interconnected romance universe sitting behind it.

To be very clear, I haven’t found confirmation that Passionflix is adapting the subsequent books, so don’t take that as an announcement.

But would I watch more With Me in Seattle adaptations after this?

Absolutely.

And considering Passionflix itself promoted the film around Luke and Natalie being where the story began, I suspect I’m not the only viewer who’s going to finish this movie wondering which couple comes next.

🍿

That Meet-Cute Had Me Immediately

One of the easiest things to praise about Come Away With Me is the beginning.

It gets straight to it.

No unnecessarily long introduction before our leads meet. Natalie is taking photographs, Luke thinks she’s photographing him and suddenly our romance is underway.

It’s a brilliant meet-cute because Natalie’s confusion becomes our confusion.

Who is this man?

Why is he acting so strangely?

Why is he constantly wearing sunglasses?

And why does he look like he’s hiding from somebody?!

Obviously, if you know the premise, you already know the answer.

But Natalie doesn’t.

And I loved watching her become increasingly intrigued by him while Luke became increasingly intrigued by the fact that she genuinely didn’t recognise him.

The chemistry is there almost immediately.

Jake B. Miller’s Luke Is Peak “He Falls First”

I’ll admit something.

I really didn’t think I was going to like Luke.

His introduction had me suspicious, and there was something about him initially that wasn’t quite clicking for me.

That didn’t last long.

Because one of my favourite parts of Come Away With Me is simply the way Luke looks at Natalie.

This man falls first.

And he falls HARD.

Jake B. Miller manages to put so much sincerity into Luke’s expressions that you don’t need the screenplay constantly telling you how besotted he’s becoming.

It’s all over his face.

That gradually changed my entire opinion of the character.

I went from:

I’m not sure about him…

to:

Okay. I love him.

And that’s probably one of the biggest compliments I can give the performance.

🍿

Who Plays Luke and Natalie in Come Away With Me?

Jake B. Miller as Luke Williams

Jake B. Miller plays Luke Williams, the former movie star trying to live outside the spotlight.

Before Come Away With Me, Miller appeared in productions including Fear the Walking Dead, Narcos: Mexico and Daisy Jones & The Six.

For this particular role, though, it’s his quieter performance that works.

Luke needs to feel famous enough that his secrecy makes sense while simultaneously convincing us that what he feels for Natalie is genuine.

And for me, Miller absolutely sold the second part.

Natalie Pelletier as Natalie Conner

Natalie Pelletier plays photographer Natalie Conner.

Her previous screen credits include Geo-Disaster, A Dark Place and A Little Late with Lilly Singh. Her casting as Natalie was announced in February 2026, when Passionflix began production on the adaptation.

Pelletier gives Natalie enough confidence that she doesn’t simply become “the ordinary woman who catches the celebrity.”

She’s curious about Luke, yes.

But she also has her own life, friendships and boundaries – particularly where honesty is concerned.

And together?

Miller and Pelletier have the chemistry this story needs.

🍿

Come Away With Me Is A Proper Cosy, Mature Romance

My prescription for watching this movie is fairly simple:

Large glass of wine.

Cosy blanket.

Evening to yourself.

Done.

This isn’t a romance that’s embarrassed about being romantic.

And I actually found that refreshing.

There’s an almost Hallmark-like cosiness to certain parts of Come Away With Me, but this is still Passionflix, so naturally it’s considerably more grown-up when Luke and Natalie’s relationship heats up.

It feels mature rather than teenage or overly chaotic.

And sometimes you just want to watch two adults become completely wrapped up in one another.

Is Come Away With Me Spicy?

Let’s answer this because I know exactly what some Passionflix viewers are going to want to know.

Yes, there is steam.

This isn’t Hallmark.

But I wouldn’t reduce Come Away With Me to its spicy scenes either.

The physical attraction is important to Luke and Natalie’s relationship, but the film spends plenty of time establishing their emotional intimacy too.

If you’re coming from the book, that’s particularly relevant: reader-driven romance adaptations need to convince us that these people aren’t simply physically attracted to one another.

And I believed Luke was falling in love.

That’s what made the steam work rather than simply feeling inserted for the sake of it.

Passionflix Does Something Mainstream Romance Movies Often Don’t

Watching Come Away With Me reminded me of something I appreciate about Passionflix.

They let romantic scenes breathe.

And I think this is one of the reasons romance readers respond differently to Passionflix adaptations than they sometimes do to mainstream book-to-movie adaptations.

A traditional Hollywood romance has a limited runtime and a lot of plot to get through. The little relationship moments are often the easiest things to cut.

Passionflix is built specifically around romance adaptations. Its catalogue includes adaptations of romance novels and series from authors including Sylvia Day, J.R. Ward and others, with Come Away With Me now joining that line-up.

That focus matters.

Because readers don’t necessarily fall in love with a romance novel because of its five biggest plot points.

It’s often the tiny things.

The conversation that goes on slightly longer than necessary.

The lingering look.

The touch.

The romantic gesture.

The ordinary scene where nothing enormous happens but you suddenly realise these two characters have fallen completely in love.

Passionflix gives those moments time.

Could some viewers find that pacing slower?

Probably.

But as a reader watching a book adaptation, I think there’s something satisfying about not watching every quiet romantic beat get sacrificed to move the plot along.

And Come Away With Me is a great example of that.

Yes, Come Away With Me Is Cheesy – And I Loved It

I need to confess that I apparently have a completely different cringe threshold when I’m watching Passionflix.

Because Come Away With Me gets soppy.

The flowers.

The letter.

The romance.

The perfectly positioned petals in the bath.

Normally, I’d be rolling my eyes.

Instead, Luke sends Natalie flowers and I’m sitting there thinking:

Actually… imagine someone doing that for you.

So, bring on the cringe.

I was living for it.

That won’t work for everyone.

If you’re not currently in the mood for an unapologetically romantic movie, I’d probably save Come Away With Me for another night.

But if you want escapism?

Lean into it.

🍿

And Can We Talk About The Come Away With Me Scenery?

If Luke doesn’t convince you to run away somewhere romantic, the scenery probably will.

This movie is gorgeous.

There were several moments when I found myself paying as much attention to the landscapes as the characters.

It adds enormously to the escapist quality of the film.

I haven’t found a reliable confirmed source for all of the Come Away With Me filming locations yet, so I’m not going to pretend I know exactly where every gorgeous shot was captured.

But visually?

Book me a one-way ticket.

🍿

My Biggest Come Away With Me Criticism: The Ending Feels Rushed

As much as I enjoyed the movie, there is one area that didn’t work nearly as well for me.

The final 20–30 minutes.

For most of its runtime, Come Away With Me takes its time.

Then suddenly it feels like somebody has hit fast-forward.

There’s a lot of drama packed into that final stretch and then, before I’ve completely processed everything…

ONE MONTH LATER.

Luke and Natalie are getting married.

At the top of a waterfall.

Someone’s saying you may kiss the bride.

And I’m basically sitting there thinking:

Wait… we’re HERE already?!

I don’t dislike the outcome at all.

This is romance. Give me my happily ever after.

It was the pacing that threw me.

After allowing Luke and Natalie’s relationship so much space earlier in the movie, I wanted that final stretch to have the same breathing room.

I was actually surprised we didn’t end on some sort of cliffhanger.

Instead, Passionflix basically said:

Drama → time jump → waterfall wedding → DONE.

It didn’t ruin the movie for me, but another ten minutes around that final act could have made a significant difference.

Interestingly, the wedding isn’t a Passionflix invention. Luke and Natalie’s relationship does progress to marriage in Kristen Proby’s novel, but the film compresses that journey considerably. That perhaps explains why the final act felt so rushed to me — it wasn’t the destination that felt wrong, but how quickly the movie suddenly got us there.

🍿

Does Come Away With Me Have A Happy Ending?

Yes. Very much so.

If you’re the kind of romance viewer who needs to know whether it’s safe to emotionally invest before pressing play, Luke and Natalie do get their romantic payoff.

The final portion of the movie might have moved too quickly for my liking, but Come Away With Me certainly doesn’t forget what genre it belongs to.

This is a romance that wants you to leave happy.

And I did.

🍿

Is Come Away With Me Worth Watching on Passionflix?

Yes – particularly if you’re already a Passionflix fan or love celebrity romance and book adaptations.

I enjoyed Come Away With Me considerably more than I expected.

The meet-cute hooked me.

Luke surprised me.

Jake B. Miller completely won me over.

Natalie and Luke have genuine chemistry.

The scenery is gorgeous.

It’s mature, warm, steamy, ridiculously romantic and occasionally cheesy enough that I should have been cringing…

and somehow I loved that too.

The rushed ending prevents it from being perfect for me, but it doesn’t change the fact that I would happily watch this again.

And if you’ve watched my Luke and Natalie love story edit, please don’t think you’ve already seen everything worth seeing.

I intentionally left a heck of a lot of footage out.

There are so many more conversations, romantic moments and parts of their relationship waiting in the actual film.

So don’t just watch the clips.

Watch the movie.

Grab your wine.

Grab your blanket.

Embrace the cheese.

And let Luke Williams look at Natalie Conner like she’s the only woman left on Earth for a couple of hours.

I don’t think romance lovers will regret it.
