There’s something about autumn that makes supernatural romance hit differently.

The nights get darker, Halloween starts creeping closer and suddenly I want my romance with a side of ghosts, vampires, fantasy and just a little bit of chaos.

But while Twilight, The Mortal Instruments and Fallen will always have their place on an autumn watchlist, sometimes you want something different.

So, for this edition of Romance Radar, where we look at an older title, a recent release, an upcoming release and maybe even a BONUS title (if you stick around), I’m skipping the obvious choices and digging a little deeper.

Whether you’re looking for an underrated fantasy romance on Prime Video, a supernatural K-drama to binge on Netflix or vampires to take you straight into spooky season, here are four romance series to add to your autumn watchlist.

1. My Lady Jane — The Fantasy Romance You Might Have Missed

Watch on: Prime Video

If My Lady Jane passed you by when it arrived on Prime Video in 2024, autumn is the perfect excuse to go back and discover it.

Starring Emily Bader as Lady Jane Grey and Edward Bluemel as Lord Guildford Dudley, the eight-episode series takes Tudor history, throws historical accuracy pretty much out of the window and replaces it with romance, comedy, fantasy and shapeshifting humans.

Yes, shapeshifters.

In this alternative version of 16th-century England, certain people known as Ethians can transform into animals — and that supernatural element gives an already chaotic historical romance a completely different feel.

At the heart of it all, though, is Jane and Guildford.

Forced into a marriage neither particularly wants, the two have exactly the kind of relationship I love watching: plenty of banter, plenty of tension and a growing attraction that becomes increasingly difficult for either of them to ignore.

It’s funny, romantic and fantastical without taking itself too seriously, while the castles, countryside, danger and supernatural elements make it an easy addition to an autumn binge list.

Unfortunately, My Lady Jane was cancelled after just one season, despite leaving plenty of story still to explore. But don’t let that stop you watching it. All eight episodes are there to binge, and Jane and Guildford’s relationship alone makes this one worth going back for.

If you like fantasy romance, forced proximity, arranged marriage, enemies-to-lovers energy and supernatural series, put My Lady Jane on your autumn watchlist.

2. Spooky in Love — The Supernatural K-Drama to Binge Right Now

Watch on: Netflix

If your perfect autumn watch involves romance, ghosts and an unsolved murder mystery, Spooky in Love might be exactly what you’re looking for.

The 2026 Korean romantic comedy stars Park Eun-bin and Yang Se-jong and follows a ghost-seeing heir and an ace prosecutor who discover that a single touch makes them a surprisingly effective team when it comes to investigating unsolved murders.

Which, naturally, also provides plenty of opportunities for these two to get VERY close to each other.

Netflix describes the series as quirky, suspenseful and romantic, and that combination is exactly why it works so well as we head towards Halloween.

Rather than simply adding a supernatural gimmick to an otherwise standard romance, Spooky in Love has a mystery running alongside the relationship. That gives you something to keep trying to figure out while the romantic and comedic moments stop things from becoming too heavy.

You get ghosts. You get mystery. You get romance. You get chemistry. And, of course, you get those slightly ridiculous K-drama moments that somehow make perfect sense while you’re watching them.

For anyone searching for a supernatural K-drama, ghost romance, romantic mystery or Halloween K-drama, this should be high on the list.

Better still, you can binge it on Netflix now.

3. The Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2 — The Vampire Romance Coming Next

Coming to: Passionflix October 29th 2026

Could we really make an autumn supernatural romance list without vampires?

The Black Dagger Brotherhood is returning to Passionflix for Season 2, and this time the focus moves onto Rhage and Mary.

Based on J.R. Ward’s bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood novels, the Passionflix adaptation began with Wrath and Beth’s romance in Season 1. Season 2 will adapt Lover Eternal, the second novel in Ward’s series, with Alexander Cubis returning as Rhage and Audrey Hare joining the cast as Mary.

And if you already know Rhage from the books, you’ll know we’re not dealing with an ordinary vampire romance here.

Rhage lives with a curse connected to the Beast — a dangerous creature that adds another supernatural layer to a story already packed with vampires, danger and romance.

After getting our introduction to Rhage in the first season, Season 2 finally puts his love story front and centre.

For fans of paranormal romance books, vampire romance series and book-to-screen adaptations, this could be one of the autumn releases to watch.

Passionflix has confirmed that The Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2 is arriving this fall.

Vampires, romance, danger and the supernatural?

Autumn viewing sorted.

BONUS: Love Sucks — Damian Hardung as a Vampire. Need I Say More?

Availability varies by country

And finally, one bonus recommendation — particularly for the Maxton Hall fans.

If you’ve watched Damian Hardung as James Beaufort and wondered what he’d be like as a vampire, allow me to introduce you to Love Sucks.

The German supernatural romance stars Damian Hardung as Ben von Greifenstein, a melancholic vampire tired of living forever, opposite Havana Joy as Zelda, a boxer he meets at a fairground.

There’s just one rather significant problem with their budding romance.

Zelda’s family are vampire slayers.

The result is essentially a forbidden love story unfolding in the middle of a violent, generations-old feud between their two families.

Produced for German broadcaster ZDF, Love Sucks combines romance, vampires, family rivalry, blood and the neon-lit atmosphere of the fairground into something considerably darker than Maxton Hall.

And yes — Damian Hardung as a vampire is probably enough of a reason for some of you to go looking for it.

The frustrating part is availability. Love Sucks has been distributed internationally and where you can stream it depends on your country, so this one may take a little more hunting down than the others on this list.

But if you’re looking for a German vampire series, forbidden vampire romance or something to watch after Maxton Hall, Love Sucks is one worth knowing about.

Which Supernatural Romance Should You Watch This Autumn?

So there you have it — four autumn romances without reaching for the same supernatural favourites we return to every year.

If you want fantasy, humour and chaotic romance, start with My Lady Jane.

If you want ghosts, mystery and K-drama romance, try Spooky in Love.

If you’re ready for full-blown paranormal vampire romance, keep The Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2 on your watchlist.

And if the words Damian Hardung as a vampire have already convinced you, start hunting for Love Sucks.

Autumn romance doesn’t always have to mean cosy coffee shops, pumpkin patches and falling leaves. Sometimes we want ghosts, shapeshifters, vampires and dangerously attractive supernatural men instead.

And frankly? I think that’s much more fun.

What supernatural romance are you watching this autumn? And more importantly, what’s the underrated one that NEVER appears on these lists? Let me know — because I’m always looking for the next romance to put on my radar.
