Beauty From Pain was about Jack and Laurelyn falling in love despite the rules. Beauty From Surrender is about what happens when love is no longer the only thing either of them has to lose.
Jack Henry and Laurelyn aren’t finished yet.

After Beauty From Pain left us with one seriously frustrating case of two people failing to say what they actually feel, Beauty From Surrender arrives on Passionflix on September 24, 2026, bringing Samantha Allsop and Jackson Gallagher back as Laurelyn Prescott and Jack Henry McLachlan.
And if you’ve forgotten exactly where we left them — or you’re wondering what all the fuss is about before jumping into the Beauty series — here’s your spoiler-light guide to everything worth knowing before Beauty From Surrender.
Warning: There are spoilers for Beauty From Pain below, but we’ll keep the sequel itself as spoiler-free as possible.
First Things First: Where Did Beauty From Pain Leave Jack and Laurelyn?
Let’s rewind.
When aspiring American musician Laurelyn Prescott heads to Australia following a devastating heartbreak, billionaire winemaker Jack Henry McLachlan offers her a rather unusual arrangement.
Three months. No real names. No expectations. And definitely no falling in love. 🖤
You can probably guess how well that last rule goes.
What begins as a no-strings relationship gradually becomes something neither of them expected. The problem is that Jack has spent years deliberately keeping emotion out of his relationships — and by the time he realises Laurelyn is different, he’s left it dangerously late.
Believing Jack doesn’t love her enough to ask her to stay, Laurelyn leaves Australia early and returns home.
And Jack?
He wakes up to discover she’s gone.
Worse still, the rules he created to protect himself now come back to bite him: he doesn’t have the information he needs to easily find her.
Turns out keeping your identities secret isn’t quite so romantic when you’ve accidentally fallen in love.

So What Is Beauty From Surrender About?
This is where the dynamic changes.
Beauty From Pain was largely about Laurelyn entering Jack’s world. Beauty From Surrender gives Laurelyn a world of her own.
Back in the US and heartbroken, she turns her attention to the other great love in her life: music.
After her best friend encourages her to audition for a rising country band, Laurelyn’s career begins moving forward. The woman Jack eventually finds isn’t simply waiting around for him to come back.
She’s changing.
She’s building a career.
And she’s beginning to achieve the success she’s always wanted.
Meanwhile, Jack has had plenty of time to realise exactly how badly he messed this up.
The man who originally wanted three months with no names and no emotional attachments now wants something very different — Laurelyn back in his life for real.
Unfortunately for him, wanting her back and actually convincing her to come back are two completely different things.

Expect a Very Different Jack Henry
This might be the part we’re most excited to see.
Jack spent much of Beauty From Pain attempting to control the relationship. He made the rules, established the boundaries and convinced himself that keeping things temporary would protect him.
Except Laurelyn completely dismantled that plan.
The second story flips their positions.
According to Georgia Cates’ original novel, Jack spends three months searching for Laurelyn after letting her walk away. When he finally finds her, she’s no longer the woman who arrived in Australia looking for an escape.
And now Jack is the one wondering whether he fits into her life.
For anyone who loves a romance where the emotionally unavailable man finally realises what he’s lost and has to work for another chance…
Yeah. This one might be for you.

Laurelyn’s Music Isn’t Just Background Anymore
One thing worth knowing before watching is that Laurelyn’s music career becomes a much bigger part of the story.
Music was already important to her in Beauty From Pain, but in Surrender it represents something bigger: a future she’s building independently of Jack.
The original book sees Laurelyn return to Nashville and throw herself into her career after losing him. Success finally starts coming her way — which creates a much more interesting question than simply whether the couple still love one another.
What happens when getting the man could mean changing the future you’ve worked for?
That’s the conflict sitting underneath their second chapter.
Jack isn’t simply trying to convince Laurelyn that he loves her.
He has to convince her that a life with him doesn’t require giving up the person she’s becoming.
The Trailer Gives Us Our Reunion
The newly released trailer confirms that we’re not going to spend the entire film waiting for Jack and Laurelyn to finally end up in the same room again. (Watch the trailer HERE)
Jack does find her.
And judging by what we’ve seen, their reunion isn’t exactly going to be calm.
The attraction clearly hasn’t disappeared, but neither has the hurt that sent Laurelyn home in the first place.
That distinction matters because Beauty From Surrender isn’t really about these two discovering that they’re attracted to one another — we dealt with plenty of that in movie one.
It’s about whether attraction and love are actually enough when trust has already been damaged.
🍿
Samantha Allsop and Jackson Gallagher Are Back
Thankfully, there’s no awkward recasting between instalments.
Samantha Allsop returns as Laurelyn Prescott, while Jackson Gallagher returns as Jack Henry McLachlan.
The returning/supporting cast also includes Arielle Cartwright, Vanessa Moltzen, Helen Howard, Callan Colley and Brittany Grey.
Christine Luby, who directed Beauty From Pain, returns as director, with Brian Frederich again credited for the screenplay.
That continuity should hopefully help Surrender feel like the next chapter of the same story rather than an entirely separate adaptation.
🍿
It’s Based on the Second Book in Georgia Cates’ Beauty Series
If you’re new to the books, there’s something important to know:
Beauty From Surrender isn’t the end of Jack and Laurelyn’s story.
Georgia Cates’ original Jack and Laurelyn trilogy is:
- Beauty From Pain
- Beauty From Surrender
- Beauty From Love
So we’re currently entering the middle chapter.
The Beauty books became New York Times and USA Today bestsellers, and Beauty From Surrender was originally published in 2013.
Cates describes the series as a continuous love story rather than three unrelated romances, so this really isn’t one of those sequels where you can swap in without knowing what happened before.
🍿
Do You Need to Watch Beauty From Pain First?
Yes. We definitely would.
Technically, you’ll probably be able to understand the basic premise without it: Laurelyn left, Jack regrets letting her go, and now he wants her back.
But you’ll lose most of what makes that situation matter.
Their unusual agreement, Jack’s refusal to become emotionally involved, Laurelyn gradually falling for him and that final separation are the entire reason the power shift in Beauty From Surrender works.
And let’s be honest — watching Jack desperately trying to get the woman back hits very differently when you’ve personally watched him create the problem.
If you haven’t seen it yet, Beauty From Pain is already streaming on Passionflix – but of course you can always watch our shorter edit/review if you haven’t committed to pressing play just yet…
What Romance Tropes Are We Getting?
If you’re deciding whether this is your kind of romance, expect plenty of:
❤️ Second-chance romance
🔥 Billionaire romance
🎸 Musician heroine
🥺 He falls harder
✈️ Long-distance romance
💔 Heartbreak and reconciliation
🫠 Protective/possessive hero energy
And, considering this is Beauty and Passionflix we’re talking about, we’d say it’s fairly safe to expect the steam level not to suddenly disappear either.
🍿
Why Beauty From Surrender Could Be the More Interesting Chapter
There’s something about the setup for Surrender that we’re particularly interested in.
In the first story, Jack held most of the cards.
It was his country, his vineyard, his proposition and largely his rules.
Now Laurelyn has left that bubble.
She has her music, her own opportunities and the possibility of creating a life that doesn’t revolve around Jack Henry McLachlan.
So when he comes back, the question isn’t simply “Does she still love him?”
Of course she does.
The much more interesting question is whether Jack can become part of the life Laurelyn wants without asking her to sacrifice it.
And that’s exactly where we want a second instalment to take us.
🍿
