If you’ve been eyeing My Tutor, My Love on Viki but aren’t sure whether it’s worth pressing play, I’d say one thing…

Stick with it.

As someone who has spent years completely immersed in K-dramas, C-dramas and J-dramas, I’ll admit that Thai dramas are still a relatively new corner of Asian television for me. I’ve watched a handful over the years, but nowhere near as many as their Korean, Chinese or Japanese counterparts.

That actually made My Tutor, My Love quite an interesting experience.

Instead of comparing it to every Thai drama that’s come before it, I found myself judging it as someone who simply loves a good romance—and after four episodes, I genuinely think this could become one of the better gateway dramas for newcomers.

🍿

What is My Tutor, My Love about?

The series follows actress Eva, whose career takes an unexpected turn when she’s offered an English-speaking role that could transform her future. There’s just one problem—her English isn’t quite where it needs to be.

Enter Pun, whose job begins professionally as her nutritionist and personal trainer to help Eva get into peak physical condition. However, when it becomes clear that her English also needs work, Pun unexpectedly takes on a second role as her English tutor. What begins as a strictly professional arrangement gradually develops into something far more complicated as the pair spend more time together – as we would all hope with a series like this; the lines start to blur.

Meanwhile, Eva is also trying to navigate the pressures of her high-profile career, a complicated relationship with her wealthy boyfriend, and a series of increasingly suspicious events that hint there’s far more going on beneath the surface than a straightforward romantic comedy.

🍿

Don’t expect fireworks straight away

If I’m being completely honest, I wasn’t hooked immediately.

The first couple of episodes spend a lot of time introducing the characters, establishing Eva’s career, her relationships and the people surrounding her. Some viewers may find the pacing a little slower than they’re used to, especially if you’re coming from Korean dramas that often throw a major hook into the opening episode.

There were moments where I wondered when things were finally going to click.

Then Episode 4 happened. (See reel below 👇)

Without spoiling anything, this is where the series finally started showing me what it’s capable of.

The emotional tension increases, the chemistry between the leads becomes much more believable, and you begin to see hints that there are bigger mysteries waiting beneath the romance.

The romance tropes are exactly why I’m still watching

Let’s be honest…

Who doesn’t love a drama built around irresistible romance tropes?

So far, My Tutor, My Love offers plenty to enjoy:

  • Teacher and student (within an adult tutoring setting)
  • Slow-burn romance
  • Love triangle
  • Opposites attract
  • Protective male lead
  • Forced proximity through tutoring sessions
  • Hidden feelings
  • Growing emotional tension

Yes, parts of the romance feel predictable.

By Episode 4, most viewers will probably have a good idea where the central relationship is heading.

But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Romance fans often watch for the journey rather than the destination, and it’s the chemistry, emotional pay-offs and character growth that matter most.

🍿

There’s more mystery than I expected

One thing that surprised me is that the show doesn’t rely solely on romance.

The deeper you get into the story, the more it hints that something larger is happening around Eva.

Without giving away spoilers, there are enough unanswered questions surrounding the danger she’s facing to stop the series becoming just another straightforward love story.

That extra layer of mystery gives the plot more weight and leaves me wanting to know what happens next.

Could this be your first Thai drama?

This is probably the biggest compliment I can give it.

As someone whose comfort zone has always been Korean, Japanese and Chinese dramas, I actually think My Tutor, My Love could make for a solid introduction to Thai dramas.

The storytelling feels accessible.

The romance is easy to invest in.

The humour doesn’t feel over-the-top.

And while the opening episodes ask for a little patience, Episode 4 suggests the writers are building towards something much bigger.

If you’ve been curious about exploring more Thai series but didn’t know where to begin, this might just be one worth adding to your watchlist.

My verdict (so far)

After four episodes, I’m not completely obsessed…

…yet.

But I am intrigued.

The first few episodes lay the groundwork, while Episode 4 finally delivers the kind of emotional intensity that had me sitting up and paying attention.

If the series continues building on this momentum while developing both the romance and the mystery, I think My Tutor, My Love has every chance of becoming one of those dramas people recommend once it’s finished airing.

Current Pass the Pop rating after Episode 4: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Sometimes a drama doesn’t need to explode out of the gate.

Sometimes it just needs enough time to make you care before it really starts playing its cards.

And right now, My Tutor, My Love feels like it’s finally ready to do exactly that.

🍿

My Tutor, My Love Release Schedule (Viki)

If you’re thinking of adding My Tutor, My Love to your watchlist, the good news is you won’t have long to wait between episodes.

The Thai romance premiered on 24 June 2026 and is scheduled to run for 14 episodes in total. New episodes are released every Wednesday and Thursday, making it an easy series to keep up with each week rather than having to binge all at once.

At the time of writing, Episodes 1–4 are available to stream, and after watching them myself, I’d say Episode 4 is where the story really starts to find its rhythm. If you’re not completely sold after the opening episodes, I’d recommend sticking with it a little longer—the romance begins to heat up, the chemistry between Eva and Pun becomes much more convincing, and the mystery surrounding Eva’s life starts asking some genuinely interesting questions.

As more episodes air, I’ll continue updating my thoughts here on Pass the Pop, so if you’re watching along with me, be sure to check back for my latest impressions and reviews.
